The small village of Ridgewood is one of the oldest parts of Bergen County in New Jersey state, which got created in 1894 within the boundaries of Ridgewood Township. The actual expansion of Ridgewood happened in 1925 from some portions of Franklin Township. Further expansion of Ridgefield took place after including a few parts of Washington Township in 1971 and Ho-Ho-Kus in 1974.
