About Emerson, NJ Real Estate Market

A small suburb located in the New York City Metropolitan area, Emerson is a small borough in Bergen County in New Jersey state. It is the most southern town in the Pascack Valley, one of the most scenic valleys in Bergen County.

Emerson was founded in 1903 by including the portions of the Washington Township. Initially, it was named the borough of Etna after the name of a railroad station in the county. In 1909, the town's name was changed from Etna to Emerson after a renowned author belonging to the town, Mr Ralph Waldo Emerson. It is often referred to as ‘the family town’, as many small families are residing happily in various small-sized New Jersey houses.

Around 7,500 people live in this small town, which has a total area of 2.42 square miles. Emerson shares its borders with other boroughs of Bergen County, such as Harrington Park, Closter, Oradell, Haworth, Washington Township, River Vale, Paramus and Westwood.

Apart from the Emerson Woods, which cover almost 19 acres of land along Main Street in the Oradell Reservoir, Emerson has many parks. The list includes Ackerman Park, Centennial Park, Hillman Park, Rosengart Park, Veteran’s Park and Washington Park. All these parks in the town are good spots that serve as picnic areas.
